Bonded Warehouse​

Bonded warehouses are areas established in the territory of Vietnam, separated from the surrounding areas by fence network. A warehouse or yard for storing goods which have been cleared and waiting for their export; goods brought from abroad and stored therein for their re-export out of or their import into Viet Nam.

Goods are stored in bonded warehouses:

• Goods have completed customs procedures waiting for export
• Goods expire temporarily, they must be re-exported
• Goods are forced to re-export by competent state agencies
• Goods of foreign goods owners who have not signed sales contracts for Vietnamese enterprises
• Goods of Vietnamese enterprises imports from abroad waiting to be put into the domestic market, not yet paying import duties & tax
  
• Goods in transit and storage in Vietnam to wait for the export to a third country
  
• Besides, bonded warehouses also perform value-added services (VAS) such as management and separation of orders , packing, labeling, classification of goods …which meet customer’s demand

Services provided by bonded warehouses:

• Package reinforcement, splitting and repackaging; consolidation; freight classification and maintenance. 
• Freight sampling for managerial work or customs procedures.
• Transfer of the ownership of freight.
• Especially for bonded warehouses particularly intended for chemicals or petrol, if they meet requirements for customs managerial operations and relevant requirements for specialized management activities, their preparation or mixture or conversion of different freight types shall be allowed.

Time limitation in a Bonded warehouse:

Goods delivered to bonded warehouses shall be kept for a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of being stored in bonded warehouses; in case there is a good reason, it shall be extended by the Director of the Customs Department managing the bonded warehouse once time not exceeding 12 months.
